Camila Alves made the most of her 48-hour visit to the Cannes Film Festival, accompanying her hunky husband, Matthew McConaughey, to the world premiere of his drama The Sea of Trees and partnering with Magnum Ice Cream and BCBG Max Azria to help launch the Magnum Belgian Chocolate Wrap — a scarf infused with the aroma of Belgian chocolate (available in BCBG Max Azria stores in July). The Hollywood Reporter caught up with the mother of three on the beach to chat about all things Cannes and why double-stick tape is so important here.

Pret-a-Reporter: How was it to walk the steps of the Palais?
Camila Alves: It was great. It’s a great feeling to be in a place like this and be able to be a part of it. It’s neat. This is one of the coolest carpets. You’re photographed 360 degrees and from the top. And there are no interviews on the carpet, which is really about the movie, the cast and the fashion. How glamorous is that?
Because of the 360-degree photography, did you put more thought into your ensemble?
I did. More thought for sure, and you have to make sure you’re covered from every angle. It took a little longer to get ready than it usually does. You need to check. I wore a really revealing dress, so we needed to make sure it was covered and there was enough double-stick tape. Because if you do move the wrong way, it’s going to show, and you don’t want that to happen. That’s not my thing. Double-stick tape is a good friend of yours here.
Who is your second set of eyes?
[Matthew] definitely takes the last look.

Is there a style star here in Cannes whom you really admire?
I love Naomi Watts. She always has it together. She’s pretty up there.
Your husband wears a Dolce & Gabbana suit very well. Do you offer any tips to him?
It’s all a collaboration. We like to have fun and enjoy instead of being serious or too dramatic. He’s been having fun with his fashion, too, which is a good thing.
Before you came here, any Cannes must-haves?
Sparkles, on shoes or anything. And something white.
Any beauty must-haves at the moment?
I’ve been using a lot of Nude Skincare. Ali Hewson, Bono’s wife, is part-owner of the company, and she introduced it to me. They have an amazing oil for skin and hands that I’ve been using, and I love it.

Tell me about your partnership with Magnum today.
This is great for me. I grew up around Magnum. In Brazil, Magnum is the thing — you get it all the time and on special occasions. I grew up with it. To be a part of this today is pretty neat. They’re marrying chocolate with fashion! It puts you in a good mood! I’m feeling happy now. And this is a fun fact that I learned today: They are the only ice cream in the United States that is actually dipped in real Belgian chocolate. No wonder it tastes so different from everything else.
