Edward James Olmos, best known for playing William Adama in Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica, has joined the cast of Showtime’s Dexter.
The Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor will play a brilliant, charismatic professor of religious studies.
Olmos joins recently announced guest stars Colin Hanks and Mos, formerly Mos Def, in the new season.
Production on the sixth season of Dexter begins Wednesday in Los Angeles and will launch on Showtime this fall.
In addition to Battlestar Galactica, Olmos has starred in Miami Vice, Stand and Deliver, Selena, Blade Runner and the theater and film versions of Zoot Suit.
Guest actors on Dexter have most recently included Jimmy Smits, John Lithgow and Julia Stiles.
