COLOGNE, Germany – Video games giant Electronic Arts has signed a deal with European broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1 to deliver free-to-play versions of EA titles to ProSieben’s gaming sites ProSiebenGames.de, Sat1Spiele.de and Browsergames.de.
EA will deliver free-to-play versions of hit titles including FIFA Superstars, Lord of Ultima, Battlefield Heroes and Need for Speed for ProSieben’s platforms.
EA has been moving aggressively into the free-to-play market, chasing fast-growing games groups such as Zynga. Earlier this year, EA signed a deal to buy free-to-play group PopCap Games, makers of Bejewled and Plants vs. Zombies for $750 million. EA has also inked a deal with German browser game giant Bigpoint to distribute EA’s free-to-play catalogue.
