Emily Mortimer and Julianne Nicholson have joined the cast of Ten Thousand Saints, an adaptation of the Eleanor Henderson novel being directed by Bob Pulcini and Shari Berman, the directing duo behind American Splendor.
Ethan Hawke, Emile Hirsch, Asa Butterfield and Hailee Steinfeld are already on board the production, which began shooting Monday in New York.

Saints is set in New York’s Lower East Side in the 1980s and is a coming-of-age story that follows three screwed-up young people and their equally screwed-up parents in the age of CBGB’s, yuppies and the tinderbox of gentrification that exploded into the Tompkins Square Riots.
Producing are Anne Carey and Amy Nauiokas for Archer Gray Productions, Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray (Filth) for Maven Pictures and Luca Borghese.
Mortimer is playing Hawke’s glamorous ballerina girlfriend and the mother to Steinfeld’s character.

Nicholson is Hawke’s ex-wife, a former Vermont hippie and the mother of Butterfield’s character.
Mortimer will soon reprise her role for season three of HBO’s The Newsroom and recently shot a role in the anthology Rio, I Love You (Rio, eu te amo). She is repped by ICM, 42 Management, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and attorney David Weber.
Nicholson, repped by CAA and Davien Littlefield, is currently on the big screen opposite Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts in August: Osage County. She is also co-stars in Showtime’s Masters of Sex and has appeared in Boardwalk Empire.
