Endemol Beyond has struck a deal with Verizon’s forthcoming mobile streaming service, go90, to premiere three new shows exclusively on the mobile app.
The shows hail from the Icon Network, which Endemol Beyond launched earlier this year with YouTube beauty guru Michelle Phan. The shows are: Be Transformed hosted by Pop Pilates creator Cassey Ho, international fashion series Culture Chic and advice series A-Z Everyday Guide.
Go90, will be a free mobile app with a repository of video from traditional broadcast partners including Comedy Central, ESPN as well as online video producers AwesomenessTV and Vice Media. But since the majority of these video clips are already available elsewhere online or on TV, go90 will need to set itself apart with some exclusive content. That’s where deals like the one with Endemol Beyond come into play.
“From a programming perspective, working with the go90 team on its new social entertainment platform has resulted in the creation of three premium Icon Originals,” said Endemol Beyond interim president Adrian Sexton. “We are now six months into our Icon Network launch with Michelle Phan and these original formats will drive new audiences to go90, build great programming that resonates with our 11 global territories launching ICON and further expand ICON’s leadership as a premium lifestyle network.”
Go90 will also stream content from across Endemol Beyond’s network of online video creators, including upcoming gaming series Legends of Gaming, which will launch on the Smasher Network on Oct. 7.
Be Transformed is hosted by Pilates expert Ho, who has more than 2.5 million YouTube subscribers, and will follow three people as they work to change their lives: mind, body and soul. It will debut Sept. 28 on go90.
Culture Chic, which will launch in November, is hosted by fashion vlogger Sonya Esman and will explore the fashion that makes each culture unique, from Tokyo’s Black Diamond Girls to waist training in NYC.
A-Z Everyday Guide, which will debut in early 2016, will include humorous, street-smart tips on navigating from college into the pitfalls of post-college life.
