Some of Endemol’s top entertainment formats have sold to Central and Eastern European territories, the Amsterdam-based production company said Monday.
The company has sold the format for global hit Your Face Sounds Familiar to the Czech Republic and Slovakia for a 12-episode co-production between pubcasters Czech Television (CT1) and Slovak Television (STV1).
The format features local celebrities in disguise performing various acts.

It has already proven popular in Greece on the Antenna channel and has also sold to Serbia’s Emotion Production, which will produce a local-language version for Antenna’s PRVA, due to launch in primetime this autumn.
The format has now sold to more than 30 countries, including the U.S., the U.K., China, and across Europe, Latin America, Asia and Russia and former Soviet territories.
Czech and Slovak launches for the format will be in 2014. The format already has also proved popular in Russia, Romania, Ukraine and Bulgaria.
New reality format Grading Mom and Dad has also been picked up east of the Oder.
In deals that mark the show’s launch in the region and the first commissions outside the Netherlands, where the format originated, Czech Television has commissioned a first series for the Czech Republic and in Belarus. Theseries features kids scoring the parenting skills of their mothers and fathers.

International sales were launched at MIPTV in April. The show is among Endemol’s highlights at the upcoming MIPCOM 2013.
Other recent pickups for Central and Eastern Europe from the company, the world’s largest independent producer of TV and digital shows, include the game shows Next One, Unbeatable, The Money Drop and Deal or No Deal.
Marina Williams, Endemol’s CEO of Central and Eastern Europe and MENA Regions, said in a statement: “We’ve had a great run of sales in the region ahead of MIPCOM this year and that reflects the strength of what we have on offer.”
