The first trailer for Ender’s Game, the big-screen adaptation of Orson Scott Card‘s 1985 sci-fi novel, has hit the web, and is certain to send fans into a tizzy.
Directed and written by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), the film stars Asa Butterfield (Hugo) as Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a boy who demonstrates enormous potential in battling an oncoming alien invasion that threatens the human race.

Harrison Ford plays Colonel Graff, who heads up the Battle School where young soldiers are readied for combat. Also featured in the impressive cast: Oscar winner Ben Kingsley and Oscar nominees Abigail Breslin, Viola Davis and Hailee Steinfeld.
The Lionsgate film opens Nov. 1.
