TORONTO – Indie producer Entertainment One is getting deeper into the factual production business with British partner Impossible Pictures by signing a co-development deal for series to air on both sides of the Atlantic.
The move follows both producers completing a six-part Second World War documentary series.
Toronto-based eOne on Monday said it will co-develop a slate of projects with Impossible Pictures for the U.K., U.S. and Canadian markets.
These include Traffic, Martian Wars and The First – A WW1 Series.
eOne and Impossible are currently shopping the projects internationally for broadcast partners.
The co-development deal also follows eOne hiring U.K. veteran Sally Caplan to head up its international sales operation, based in London.
The Canadian and U.K. producers just collaborated on the World War II TV series The Last War Heroes for broadcasters Channel 4, History Television Canada and UKTV.
Cineflix International, which also invested in the six-part series, will distribute the series outside the U.K. and Canada.
