E!’s pre-Golden Globes show was under fire Sunday evening after the network put up a questionable “fun fact” for nominee Michael J. Fox as stars made their way down the red carpet.
The “fun fact” that was displayed on the bottom left of the screen during the red-carpet show said: “Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991.”

E! issued an apology Sunday evening to The Hollywood Reporter: “We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis during our Eonline [sic] live stream. We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize.”
Viewers who spotted the indiscretion took to Twitter, criticizing the network for even considering including such a bit of trivia. Some users even chose to create their own “fun facts,” with some of the funniest below:

It’s been an eventful Globes thus far with a lighting rig triggering a sprinkler system, causing old water to flood the red carpet and forcing the Beverly Hills Fire Department to vacuum up the liquid before stars arrived.
Minutes into the telecast, broadcast live on NBC, early winner Jacqueline Bisset struggled to get through her acceptance speech, with a “shit” slipping past network censors. Shortly after, The Wolf of Wall Street co-star Jonah Hill also outed the teleprompter issue when he and Margot Robbie made their way to the stage to present. “I’m not going to lie to you, they put up the wrong stuff,” Hill said.
