ESPN has removed Curt Schilling from its coverage of the Little League World Series after the analyst tweeted a meme, now deleted, comparing Muslims to Nazis:
The network’s full statement reads:
Curt’s tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company’s perspective. We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration.
Schilling’s tweet comes a day after ESPN dealt with a controversial comment from its NFL analyst Cris Carter. Yesterday video surfaced of the Hall of Famer advising players at the 2014 Rookie Symposium to designate a “fall guy” if they ever got into trouble. Carter was not punished, but the network released a statement condemning his position: “We completely disagree with Cris’s remarks and we have made that extremely clear to him. Those views were entirely his own and do not reflect our company’s point of view in any way.”
And a month ago, ESPN pulled Colin Cowherd off the air a week before his planned departure (to Fox Sports) after the personality disparaged the intellect of Dominican baseball players during his radio show.
