Eugene Levy‘s Schitt’s Creek has been renewed for a second season on the CBC ahead of its rookie season debut on the Canadian network and POP stateside.
POP, formerly known as the TV Guide Network, earlier picked up the first season, 13 episodes, of Schitt’s Creek, which Levy and his son, Daniel Levy, co-created and star in. The Canadian-made comedy focuses on video store billionaire Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy), his soap star wife Moira (Catherine O’Hara) and their two kids after they go broke and are forced to move to a small, depressing town they once bought as a joke.

“Daniel and I, along with everyone on our production team, have worked extremely hard to give CBC and all Canadians a funny, entertaining half hour of television, and we could not be more appreciative of the ongoing support CBC has shown us,” Eugene Levy said in a statement on Monday.
Schitt’s Creek, which also stars Annie Murphy and Chris Elliot, is being shopping worldwide by ITV Studios Global Entertainment after the show was launched at MIPCOM.
