Richard TermineSales of the Broadway musical Evita took a steep dive last week when star Ricky Martin went on vacation, the New York Times reported.
The musical, playing at Marquis Theatre in New York, last week grossed $643,663, which amounted to a little more than half the previous week’s gross of $1,191,200.

It marked the first week that Evita grossed less than $1 million since the show performances started in March, according to the Times.
Evita, which features a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and book and lyrics by Tim Rice, is the first Broadway revival of the award-winning 1979 musical.
Elena Roger and Michael Cerveris also star. Martin’s contract expires in January.

Meanwhile, Peter and the Starcatcher also saw a significant drop in sales after star Christian Borle left to begin working on the second season of NBC’s Smash.
The show saw its weekly gross fall to $520,608, a drop of 25 percent, the second-biggest of the week behind Evita.
Borle won a Tony for his role in the show at Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
