Fargo TV Still - H 2014
FXHulu continues to add to its platform, announcing Friday that it has nabbed the exclusive rights to FX miniseries Fargo through an expanded agreement with MGM.
Fargo, which was recently nominated for five Golden Globes, is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions. The series joins a growing number of FX and FXX shows that Hulu recently acquired through an exclusive, multiyear SVOD deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.
Fargo‘s first season, which stars Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman, will become available on Hulu Plus in 2015 ahead of the fall premiere of season two, which will star Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons.

“MGM has been our longtime partner and is a consistent distributor of premium content,” said Hulu head of content Craig Erwich. “After announcing our landmark output deal with FX Productions yesterday, this expanded partnership with MGM brings even more hit titles to Hulu.”
Under the agreement, Hulu has also licensed from MGM all episodes of History’s Vikings. Seasons one and two of the series, which was the first scripted show for the network, are immediately available for streaming ahead of the period drama’s Feb. 19 season premiere.
“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Hulu and proud to continue to offer exceptional programming from MGM including the Golden Globe nominated and Emmy award winning series Fargo, continued fan-favorite Vikings as well as classic titles from MGM’s vast library,” said John Bryan, president of domestic television distribution at MGM.
In addition, the expanded deal gives Hulu multiyear, non-exclusive licensing rights to more than 1,500 episodes of MGM shows, including the Stargate series, Green Acres, Addams Family, Dead Like Me and All Dogs Go to Heaven.
