October 17 will be a big night for culture in Los Angeles. That’s the night the Beverly Hills–based Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts will open its doors for its inaugural gala, sponsored by the Ferragamo family of the Salvatore Ferragamo brand, known to L.A. residents through its Rodeo Drive store.
Jamie Tisch will serve as chair of the gala, with some pretty illustrious co-chairs: Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. We can only imagine the guest list for this swanky, glamorous occasion (the brand hosted a kick-off cocktail party on May 3 at Gagosian Gallery with guests including Wallis Annenberg, Monique Lhuillier, Crystal Lourd, Angie Harmon, Amber Valletta, Minnie Mortimer and Kelly Lynch).
The day before the gala, the festivities will get rolling with a show featuring the Ferragamo spring/summer 2014 collection, by brand creative director Massimiliano Giornettis, which will only have been shown in Milan one month before.
The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts will comprise two distinct buildings off Little Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills — the historic 1934 Italianate-style Beverly Hills Post office and the new 500-seat, state-of-the-art Goldsmith Theater. There will also be a Ferragamo trunk show of spring/summer 2014 at the Rodeo Drive boutique that week, with a portion of profits going to the Annenberg.
