Country duo Florida Georgia Line joined forces with piano crooner John Legend for their Billboard Music Awards performance Sunday night.
Legend kicked off the performance by belting his ballad “Sunfire,” from his Darkness and Light album, surrounded by a lit-up arena. Legend then transitioned into playing the keys for Florida Georgia Line’s hit single “H.O.L.Y.” Legend not only harmonized with the country artists, but sang a verse on their song as well.
The performance follows another unique collaboration for the country singers. The duo recently performed with the Backstreet Boys during the Academy of Country Music Awards in April.
For this year’s ceremony, Florida Georgia Line was nominated in five categories that included: Top Duo/Group, Top Country Artist, Top Country Album for “Dig Your Roots,” Top Country Collaboration, and two nominations for Top Country song. Earlier in the night, the country artists won top country song for “H.O.L.Y.”
The Billboard Music Awards aired live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT Sunday on ABC from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Vanessa Hudgens and Ludacris hosted. Keep up with all the latest news here.
