Over Thanksgiving weekend, a Regal Cinemas theater in Florida showed a sexually explicit movie clip prior to a screening of the animated movie Frozen.
“I was appalled,” moviegoer Lynne Greene told Tampa Bay television affiliate Fox 13. Greene had brought her grandchildren to see the PG-rated Disney holiday title at Regal Cinemas Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park on Nov. 29.
After technical difficulties delayed the start of the movie, “they put in the filler, it looked like Steamboat Willie, the old Mickey Mouse cartoon, and then all of a sudden it goes into this other [sexually explicit] scene,” Greene told the station, adding that it “seemed like forever” before the theater stopped playing the clip.

Regal Cinemas acknowledged an “incorrect” film played in the theater at the screening prior to Frozen being shown.
“In an isolated incident, an erroneously programmed ‘R-rated’ feature did start Friday evening in one auditorium at Park Place,” Regal vp of marketing and communications Russ Nunley said in a statement. “Less than two minutes of this incorrect movie was shown before it was stopped.”
The film that was incorrectly played could’ve been a scene from Matthew McConaughey drama Dallas Buyers Club, the The Tampa Bay Times reported. Nunley did not deny the report.
Nunley added: “After the correct movie was shown, our manager gathered the audience to apologize and address the patrons’ concerns. Rest assured that all equipment and operational protocols are being evaluated to ensure, to the fullest extent possible, that such an incident does not re-occur in the future.”
