Focus Features has tapped Josh McLaughlin as the studio’s new president of production.
The announcement was jointly made by Focus chairman Peter Kujawski and president Robert Walak. McLaughlin will report to the latter.
McLaughlin’s promotion comes two months after Jim Burke stepped down from the position, which he held for two years, in order to return to his career as a film producer.
McLaughlin, who joined Focus as senior vp production in 2012, worked on Niki Caro’s The Zookeeper’s Wife, as well as upcoming features Atomic Blonde and The Book of Henry. He previously held positions at Chernin Entertainment and The Mark Gordon Company.
In addition to McLaughlin, Focus has upped Rebecca Arzoian to vp production from her previous position as director of development.
Focus will soon release Colin Trevorrow’s Book of Henry, which will open the LA Film Fest, and Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled, which will screen in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
