Zooey Deschanel‘s HelloGiggles.com and Digital Broadcasting Group (DBG) have teamed up for the second season of web dating series The Single Life.
Deschanel, who co-founded the female-oriented site HelloGiggles.com, will serve as a creative consultant on the project along with website partners Sophia Rossi and Molly McAleer.
Created and co-produced by Real Mom Productions and Stun Creative, The Single Life, about the tumultuous and funny world of online dating, will launch on HelloGiggles with actors Taryn Southern and Jeremy Searle returning to reprise their roles as Lisa and Kip. The second season will follow the couple one year after their initial online connection as they face new hurdles of trying to live a happy life. The cast will also expand with the new partnership.
“As we head into season 2, we wanted to reinvigorate the show and give it some new life and we felt that getting the HelloGiggles staff’s input into the actual program would give the webisodic series a new zip or vigor,” Digital Broadcasting Group chief creative officer Joseph Gomes told The Hollywood Reporter, who said that Deschanel and company will be “creative voices to the program.”
The team-up is a concerted effort on DBG’s part to match its content with niche web audiences.
“That’s the evolution of the distribution of our programs,” Gomes says. “There is a definite advantage to pair our strength with other entities who have invested in creating a name for themselves in the space.”
DBG, founded in 2007 by Gomes, Chris Young, Gregg Backer and Rick Kleczkowski, is a producer and distributor of video content across digital media.
HelloGiggles is a destination for “cool girls who like to laugh.”
