Fox News said Wednesday afternoon that Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz will join the network as a contributor on Saturday, a day after he leaves his seat in the House of Representatives.
In May, Chaffetz informed his constituents in a letter that he would not seek re-election in 2018 and would resign at the end of June, setting off rumors about what he’d be doing next. Around that time, It was reported that Chaffetz was planning to join Fox News in a significant role. A month earlier, Chaffetz told Politico that he’d be “thrilled to have a television relationship.”
According to the release, Chaffetz will offer political analysis on Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network programs during the day and during primetime. He is already a frequent presence on Fox News.
Chaffetz chairs the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and has been a high-profile member of Congress.
