The broadcaster has expanded its partnership with the social network ahead of the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France.
Much like it did for the 2018 World Cup, Fox Sports plans to stream FIFA Women’s World Cup Now live from Paris every match day after the competition begins in June. The show will broadcast exclusively on Twitter in the U.S. and will feature a roster of experts and personalities and showcase game highlights and fan interactions.
FIFA Women’s World Cup Now will also integrate Twitter reactions and will feature opportunities for fan engagement during a new show segment that will ask viewers to participate in conversations.
Mirroring its strategy in 2018, the Fox Sports Twitter feed will once again post about every goal during the tournament. Fox Sports also is adding programming ahead of the tournament, featuring access to the U.S. Women’s National Team journey during the SheBelieves Cup in March.
“As the leader in live sports, Fox Sports will be bringing fans the seminal event of the summer — Team USA’s attempt to become back-to-back FIFA Women’s World Cup champions,” said Fox Sports executive vp digital David Katz. “After an amazing 2018 World Cup with Twitter that exceeded expectations, we are thrilled to expand our partnership to bring soccer fans closer to the storylines and personalities that will captivate them.”
Added Kay Madati, vp and global head of content partnerships at Twitter, “After last summer’s successful Twitter/Fox Sports programming collaboration, this expanded effort will bring our engaged audience even closer to the action and top stories from this seminal event in France.”
The SheBelieves Cup runs Feb. 27 through March 5, and Fox Sports and Twitter will offer highlights on Twitter, as well as Twitter moments, during the event. The deal also includes weekly in-tournament Q&As with Fox Sports talent and athletes and World Cup-specific Twitter Moments.
