At Michael Kors‘ spring 2015 runway show on Sept. 10, Jessica Chastain bobbed her head along to The Ronettes classic Be My Baby while Olivia Munn kept her eyes peeled for awards season looks. Next to them, blond goddess Cody Horn took in the loose matted braids on the models and their extremely natural makeup — a little berry-stained lip and some bronzer was all that was in evidence. Also in the front row: Mary J. Blige, Jada Pinkett Smith and her longtime publicist Karen Tencer, and stylist Leslie Fremar, who’d just dressed Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon for the Toronto Film Festival this week.
Chastain, in a high ponytail and bronze cocktail dress covered with 3D paillettes (identical to several other frocks in different hues in the spring collection), was bubbly and spoke with every TV crew and journalist who wanted to chat with her. “I’ve been working so much,” she laughed, “I barely know what the trends are — lucky for me, [stylist] Elizabeth Stewart pays attention. But this is such a delight to indulge in all these lovely looks. And the models actually look happy. In the notes, Michael wrote that this is about optimism. And while my fall movies are pretty dark, I like to keep it pretty light.”
The show was filled with lace pouf skirts with shirts, with every look shown with lace-up flats — something Munn appreciated. “The models don’t appear so goddess-like without their heels,” she said. “And wouldn’t it be nice for all of us to have some comfortable days for a change?”
