FXX’s Jay Baruchel Comedy ‘Man Seeking Woman’ to Shoot in Toronto

TORONTO – After shooting Guillermo del Toro‘s The Strain in Toronto, the Fargo film-to-TV adaptation in Calgary and FX Productions’ Wayward Pines in British Columbia, FX Network is to produce the upcoming FXX Jay Baruchel comedy Man Seeking Woman in Toronto.

The pilot for the Lorne Michaels-exec produced adaptation of Simon Rich’s book The Last Girlfriend on Earth was shot in Toronto.

Now FX is set to shoot 10 episodes of the the half-hour comedy that stars Baruchel as a naive romantic on a desperate quest for love, and marks a return for the Canadian actor and screenwriter to TV.

FXX has penciled in a 2015 premiere for the comedy, which is likely to land on FXX Canada up north, via a supply deal with Rogers Media.

Man Seeking Woman was created by Saturday Night Live‘s Rich, who will executive produce and serve as showrunner.

Jonathan Krisel (SNL, Portlandia) directed the pilot for the series, which hails from FX Productions and Michaels’ Broadway Video.

Michaels and Krisel will also executive produce.
