Gabrielle Krengel, a partner and agent at Domain Talent who represented actress Jane Lynch for many years, died Monday after a battle with cancer. She was 49.
Krengel and fellow agents Melisa Spamer and Joe Vance left the Metropolitan Talent Agency in 2005 to launch the boutique firm, which represents actors in TV, film and theater.
Krengel was diagnosed with cancer late last year. She fell ill in July from pulmonary embolisms, complications from which ultimately caused her death, Spamer said.
“Gabrielle kept her health struggle private even to those she was closest to in the business,” Spamer added, “preferring to put her clients, colleagues and friends in the industry first, as she always had.”
Her clients also included John Finn (Cold Case), Emily Rose (Haven), Tricia O’Kelley (The New Adventures of Old Christine), Mark Pellegrino (The Returned) and Gregg Henry (The Following).
“She was one of a kind and a class act in this town. She will be missed,” House of Lies casting director Felicia Fasano said on Twitter.
Krengel, a New York native who was raised in Los Angeles and attended UCLA, started her career at Abrams Artist Agency, where she worked for Nina Pakula. She followed Pakula when that agent opened Pakula/King with Joel King in 1994.
Krengel then joined Metropolitan after five years with Susan Smith & Associates, which closed in 2001. Smith died in October 2013 after a long battle with cancer.
