Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer has signed a multiyear first-look deal that will see her exclusively co-develop a slate of drama series with international production and distribution group Fremantle.
Dormer starred in Fremantle’s Australian period miniseries Picnic at Hanging Rock, which went out on Foxtel and Amazon. The actress, Fremantle and production group Mainstreet Pictures are currently developing Vivling, a series based on the life of legendary British actress Vivien Leigh. The series will follow the ups and down of Leigh’s incredible career: Born in British-ruled India, she went on to conquer Hollywood as Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With the Wind (1939) and Blanche DuBois in the film version of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951).
Dormer also co-wrote the screenplay to Anthony Byrne’s feature In Darkness, in which she stars as a blind musician who becomes the only witness to a murder.
“Natalie is a true talent both as an actress and producer. Her great ambition and taste for compelling entertaining projects is a perfect mix to add to the Fremantle family,” said Fremantle executive vp and creative director for global drama, Christian Vesper, in a statement.
Dormer will next be seen opposite Mel Gibson and Sean Penn in Farhad Safinia’s The Professor and the Madman.
