Peter Dinklage was glad to have embraced television after fighting coming to the medium, he told reporters backstage Sunday after taking home the prize for supporting actor for HBO’s fantasy drama Game of Thrones.
“I’ve learned to really love being on a TV show,” he said.
“I fought it for a long time. TV has become something it wasn’t before and is attracting great writers,” he said. “I get excited to read the new scripts and I don’t just skip to my parts.”
The first-time Emmy winner noted that he enjoyed Game of Thrones’ unpredictability. “That’s the great thing about this show: the villains live and the heroes die. It’s unexpected and [author] George Martin doesn’t follow the traditional formula, it’s very exciting.”
Dinklage noted that while the HBO drama does have to change some things from Martin’s best-sellers – because of time and budget constraints — but one thing remains the same.
