‘Gates’ Parody Trailer Gives Microsoft Co-Founder the Biopic Treatment (Video)

Are you a PC fan who’s upset that Bill Gates isn’t getting the same biopic treatment as late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, portrayed by Ashton Kutcher in this weekend’s Jobs?

The Official Comedy YouTube channel has released a parody trailer for a biopic about the Microsoft co-founder called Gates.

The trailer, which pokes fun at many aspects of Windows, starts with Gates dropping out of Harvard and follows him from the creation of Windows through becoming the richest man in the world and starting the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

When he creates Windows, which the trailer suggests he named by looking around his office until he started looking out the window, the fictional Gates proudly proclaims to a fictional version of Paul Allen that he wants to create “a state-of-the-art operating system that moms will love.”

The trailer also features the old paperclip helper from Microsoft Office applications, appearing to ask Gates what he’s doing (“Are you trying to write a letter?” “Are you trying to change the world?”), and suggesting that Gates and “Clippy” are close friends.

Onscreen Microsoft-style messages are used instead of title cards, and at one point, the fictional Gates addresses the audience in front of a background that looks like a combination of the pipes and space screensavers.

The title is also styled like the old Windows logo, with a tilted red-yellow-green-and-blue window.
