George Clooney-Directed Movie ‘Suburbicon’ Gets Fall Release Date

George Clooney’s next directorial outing, the crime comedy Suburbicon, starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Josh Brolin and Oscar Isaac, will be given a wide release by Paramount on Nov. 3.

The studio on Monday announced the release date, which puts the film in prime awards-season territory. Based on an early script by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, Suburbicon centers on the aftermath of a home invasion. The pic is produced by Joel Silver on behalf of his Silver Pictures, Clooney and Grant Heslov on behalf of their Smokehouse Pictures, and Teddy Schwarzman on behalf of Black Bear Pictures.

As it prepares to present its upcoming slate at the CinemaCon exhibitors convention on Tuesday, the studio also dated a couple of other films.

The Johnny Knoxville starrer Action Point, which previously had the working title Action Park, will roll out wide on March 23, 2018. The comedy, built on the premise that Knoxville and his pals are running their own theme park, is being produced by Knoxville, Billy Gerber and Derek Freda for Dickhouse Pictures. Kirby is directing from a script by Knoxville, John Altshuler and Dave Krinsky.

On April 13, 2018, Paramount will release John Krasinski’s supernatural thriller A Quiet Place, in which he also will star opposite his wife, Emily Blunt. Platinum Dunes is producing the low-budget thriller from a script by Krasinski, Scott Beck, Bryan Woods and other writers. Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes are producing.

The studio also dropped from its release calendar a scheduled Terminator movie that had been slated for June 29, 2018. In addition to 2015’s Terminator: Genisys, which grossed $441 million worldwide, Paramount had penciled in two more Terminator installments for 2017 and 2018, but those films haven’t gotten off the drawing board.
