For both teams, their destiny was determined by a single kick in each of their conference championship games.

On Sunday, the New England Patriots claimed their spot in the championship game after beating the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 in a hard-fought game.Their win was sealed only after Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal with 11 seconds to play. This will be the franchise’s seventh Super Bowl.
The New York Giants, who played the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC championship on Sunday, won 20-17. After the game went into overtime, 49er Kyle Williams had his overtime return knocked loose by New York’s Jacquian Williams. New York recovered the ball, and five plays later, Lawrence Tynes delivered the 31-yard kick to win the game.

In the Super Bowl under the dome of Lucas Oil Stadium, the Giants will face the Patriots in a rematch of the 2008 title game that saw New York spoil New England’s bid for an historic undefeated season with a last-minute 17-14 victory.
As for other entertainment on Feb. 5, fans can look forward to a Super Bowl halftime show starring Madonna, and the National Anthem sang by Kelly Clarkson. Madonna has partnered with a creative team from Cirque du Soleil, choreographer Jamie King and multimedia artists from Moment Factory to create the performance.
