Drive-ins and drive-throughs have become popular solutions amid the pandemic as a way to host safe events. And there have been quite a few, with outdoor cinemas, holiday light installations, branded pop-ups and even a Stranger Things “Drive-Into Experience.” This weekend, a new entrant appears on the calendar — a celebrity gifting drive-up.
On Feb. 25-26, Nathalie Dubois, president and CEO of DPA, is mounting the DPA Pre-Golden Globes Luxe Drive-Up at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel. With her team, Dubois, a vet of gifting suites in Cannes, Venice, Toronto and Los Angeles, will dole out 115 bags to VIPs along with 10 saved for COVID-19 first-responders.
Dubois says that she is capping her staff to eight people on-site and everyone will be masked and wearing gloves. Guests will drive to the hotel — located at 11461 Sunset Blvd. — and be directed toward a pick-up location, receive the bags, pose for optional photographs and exit. She called it a “natural” alternative to having an event during the pandemic.
“I am very proud of these gift bags and of each of these companies,” Dubois said. “It should give all our nominees some good vibes and the hope of a return to normalcy soon.”
Should physical in-person events be permitted, Dubois is eyeing an event the week of the Academy Awards in April, or for the Cannes Film Festival in July. The brands represented in the gift bags include AirPop, Autumn Brands, Active One Kids, New England Hemp Farm, Fine by AmyLea Murphy, Ten To One Rum, Maine Island Soaps, Topo Chico, Maeva Wellness, Skirt My Pump, K9s Only, Tough As A Mother Tribe, Tahiti Tourisme, Carvery Kitchen, Asea, Mantra Mask, Luxie Beauty, Buttery Popcorn, Candy Depot, Claymonics, Geek Eyewear, Fazup, Soori Bali, Luxe Hotels, Cool Ass Black Woman, Klipsta, Sipmask, Shh Skincare, Social Sparkling Wine, My Bougie Bottle, Le Taha’a by Pearl Resorts, Connect with Keao, Truth in Hand, Good Dee’s, and FanVestor.
