Congratulations are in store for Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik who have welcomed their first daughter.
Malik took to Twitter Thursday to announce the happy news. “Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together,” the former One Direction member wrote. He did not reveal what their daughter’s name is.
After rumors swirled earlier this year that the couple were expecting their first child, Hadid confirmed the news during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April.
“Obviously, we wish we could have announced it on our own terms,” Hadid told Fallon at the time. “We’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.” Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, Hadid said it was “a nice silver lining to be home and be together” while experiencing her pregnancy “day by day.”
Hadid’s mother Yolanda Hadid also expressed her excitement over her daughter’s pregnancy at the time, telling Dutch outlet RTL Boulevard, “I’m excited to become a Oma in September especially after I lost my mom so recently. But this is the beauty of life: One soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed.”
Prior to the pregnancy, Hadid, 25, and Malik, 27, had and on-and-off relationship for over five years. The model and singer started dating in 2015, only to announce their separation in 2018. The couple confirmed their reconciliation on Instagram late last year.
The baby marks the first for both Hadid and Malik. Malik would mark the third of his former One Direction bandmates to become a father, following Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.
