Gillian Anderson and Jim Broadbent have joined the cast of Andrew Davies‘ adaptation of Leo Tolstoy‘s War and Peace for the BBC and The Weinstein Co., which has now started principal photography.
Anderson is set to play Anna Pavlovna while Broadbent will star as Prince Bolkonsky in the six-part miniseries, being directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, Woman in Black: Angel of Death). The two will join previously announced cast including Paul Dano, Lily James and James Norton.

Other new additions include Rebecca Front, Kenneth Cranham, Aneurin Barnard, Tuppence Middleton, Callum Turner, Brian Cox and Ken Stott.
War and Peace is being made by BBC Cymru Wales Drama in partnership with The Weinstein Co. and BBC Worldwide/Lookout Point. It is being shot in locations across Russia, Lithuania and Latvia.
