Gillian Jacobs, Phoebe Robinson and Vanessa Bayer are set to star in Ibiza.
The feature comedy, with a script by Lauren Kahn, has landed at Netflix, after previously being set up at Sony.
The story follows a woman (Jacobs) who goes on a business trip to Spain to close a big deal but instead finds herself on a wild ride of partying and clubbing, where she falls in love with a world-famous DJ and realizes there is more to life than showing up to a job she hates.
Alex Richanbach is directing the film, which will begin production next month in Europe. Gary Sanchez Productions’ Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin J. Messick are producing along with Good Universe, which handled the deal with Netflix.
For the writer and director, Ibiza is a homecoming of sorts: Kahn began as McKay’s assistant and Richanbach as a writer-director at Ferrell- and McKay-owned Funny or Die, where the duo became frequent collaborators.
Jacobs currently stars on the Netflix series Love, and her recent film credits include Don’t Think Twice and Hot Tub Time Machine 2. She will soon be seen in Ben Falcone’s Life of the Party with Melissa McCarthy and Disney’s Magic Camp with Adam Devine. Jacobs is repped by UTA, Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Lichter, Grossman.
Bayer, known for starring on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, has been building up a strong film résumé, including roles in Trainwreck with Amy Schumer, Office Christmas Party, Carrie Pilby and Jack Black’s The Polka King. She is repped by WME, Rise Management and Jackoway, Tyerman.
Robinson is a comedian, writer and actress, who appeared on the first season of Jill Soloway’s Amazon series I Love Dick. Along with Jessica Williams, she is the creator and co-star of the WNYC podcast 2 Dope Queens and was a staff writer on IFC’s Portlandia. She is repped by UTA and Avalon US.
