Looks like the highly anticipated revival of Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway will be in preview escrow a month longer than anticipated.
Citing canceled rehearsals due to Hurricane Sandy, David Mamet‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play starring Al Pacino and Bobby Cannavale will now open Dec. 8, nearly a month after its originally scheduled opening of Nov. 11.
In addition to the opening night rescheduling, the show’s producers have extended the run through Jan. 20, 2013, with three additional performances added to the schedule: a matinee performance on Dec. 5 and two performances in December to be determined. It was originally set to close on Dec. 30.
The play, about shady Chicago real estate agents, began previews Oct. 19 at The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
Joining Pacino and Cannavale on stage are Richard Schiff (The West Wing), David Harbour (The Newsroom), John C. McGinley (Scrubs), Jeremy Shamos and Murphy Guyer.
Tony Award-winning director Daniel Sullivan (The Merchant of Venice) has taken the helm of the play’s 30th anniversary revival. The play made its world premiere in London in 1982 and opened on Broadway in 1984.
Its last Broadway revival was in 2005. That production, directed by Joe Mantello, won Tony Awards for best revival and featured actor Liev Schreiber, who starred alongside Alan Alda.
