Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesAfter picking up her supporting actress in a drama or miniseries for American Horror Story, Jessica Lange revealed she could return to the FX’s horror-thriller from Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy.
“I don’t know much more than anybody in this room but yes, we are considering a second season,” the now five-time Golden Globe winner told reporters backstage. “Nothing is definite.”
Lange, who played nosy next-door Constance in the anthology series, said she was unsure who else is in talks to return to the series, which will feature a completely new story, house and location than was featured in the show’s freshman season.

Of the series, Lange said the hardest part of the series wasn’t the dark themes and horror but the long monologues, which she often got as little as 12 hours before she was required to film — and her character’s hairdo. “The hairdo really tested my patience,” she said to laughs.
“The final monologue I had in last episode was something I had to nail down in an incredibly short period of time,” she said. “To me, that’s more important than any of physical things.”
Lange also said she thinks writing for women of her age “has suffered in recent years” and that she “rarely sees a script where the writing excites me,” but that with American Horror Story, Murphy penned something for her that was really exciting and challenging.

“Ryan, I think he’s brilliant,” she said. “I think he’s one of the most imaginative people working in film or television today. I have to say, I was so greatful to have the writing given to me every two weeks; it was a gift.”
Earlier Sunday, FX president and GM John Landgraf told reporters at the semi-annual Television Critics Association’s winter press tour that “two or possibly three” existing cast members — both series regulars and guest stars — to return to the series that starred Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott as a couple who perished in the Murder House central to the show.
American Horror Story was renewed for a second season, with Landgraf and Murphy revealing after the Season 1 finale that the show would follow an anthology format, serving up a creative reboot every season, with the actors who do return playing entirely new characters.
