The Party: W Magazine‘s annual Thursday night Golden Globes Party hosted by editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi, editor-at-large Lynn Hirschberg and hotelier Andre Balazs.
The Place: An expansive sixth-floor suite at Chateau Marmont, complete with Juergon Teller-shot photos-as-wallpaper from a “Best Performances” portfolio currently appearing in the style and culture glossy’s January issue.
STORY: Golden Globes 2014 Party Guide
The Players: Major boldfacers, including Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jared Leto, Cate Blanchett, Kirsten Dunst, Olivia Wilde, Idris Elba, Kate Hudson, Robin Wright, Marisa Tomei and Sofia Coppola, joined awards season darling Lupita Nyong’o, Bryan Lourd, Kevin Huvane, Mitch Glazer and a venerable who’s who of fashion: designers Jeremy Scott, Elder Statesman helmer Greg Chait, Rodarte’s Laura Mulleavy, British makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and the master of the red sole himself, Christian Louboutin.
The Scene: A more crowded version of your most stylish friend’s apartment-warming party — if your friend was a socialite with nary a care in the world. Champagne was the beverage de nuit, natch, and trays of sliders were shockingly consumed instead of longingly stared at like an unrequited lover, as these things usually go. The bulk of the fun happened on the suite’s massive outdoor balcony, where DJ Miles Hendrick spun Stevie Wonder tunes, stylist and E! Fashion Police host George Kotsiopoulos talked about the scariness of writing his impending glamour book, and production designer Stefan Beckman, in town to assemble and launch Diane Von Furstenberg‘s exhibit at LACMA, talked about his workday (DVF too made an appearance). Meanwhile, over by the DJ booth, designer Greg Chait talked about his weekend too — or, rather, his lack of one. “I never go out. I haven’t been out in months,” the CFDA darling told Pret-a-Reporter. So what’s an award-winning cashmere and wool specialist to do on Golden Globes Sunday? “I might design something while I watch it.”
The Sound Bite:
Jesse Metcalfe: “Are they at Soho?”
Jesse Metcalfe’s girlfriend: “Yeah, they’re there.”
Jesse Metcalf: “Should we go?”
Jesse Metcalf’s girlfriend: “Yeah.”
Jesse Metcalfe: “But are they there?”
Jesse Metcalfe’s girlfriend: “Yeah, they’re there.”
Jesse Metcalfe: “Should we go?”
Jesse Metcalfe’s girlfriend: “Yeah.”
Jesse Metcalfe: “But they’re there, right?”
So on, and so forth.
