Brie Larson won the Golden Globe for best actress in a drama for her performance in Room.
She was nominated alongside Cate Blanchett (Carol), Rooney Mara (Carol), Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl).
In this film, Larson stars as a mother forced to raise her son in a 10-by-10 room. She was also nominated for a SAG Award for her role in the adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s 2010 novel.
Onstage, Larson thanked the “incredible mind” of Donoghue, director Lenny Abrahamson and her young co-star, Jacob Tremblay.
This is Larson’s first nomination and first win at the Golden Globes.
Julianne Moore took home the Golden Globe last year for her performance in Still Alice, in which she played a professor dealing with early-onset Alzheimer’s.
The 73rd annual Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, were held in Beverly Hills on Jan. 10.
