George Clooney showed his support for the French people and press freedom by wearing a “Je suis Charlie” button on the Golden Globes red carpet.
The actor, accompanied by wife Amal Alamuddin, walked the Globes red carpet sporting the button, which translates in English to “I am Charlie” to show his support for the French people in the wake of recent terrorist attacks. When the couple stopped to chat with E! host Giuliana Rancic, she welcomed them with a compliment, but not the one they expected.
“Your tequila is amazing,” Rancic said of the actor’s Casamigos tequila line. Clooney and Alamuddin opted not to take a shot with the E! host.

Helen Mirren also showed her support for France by holding a “Je suis Charlie” sign while walking the red carpet and Jared Leto and Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Theo Kingma also expressed their support onstage during the live show.
Clooney was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his contribution to the world of entertainment.
“Thank you for keeping small films alive,” Clooney said during his acceptance speech, addressing the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. “For the record, if you’re in this room, you’ve caught the brass ring. You get to do what you’ve always dreamed to do and be celebrated for it and that ain’t losing.”
At the close of his speech, Clooney left the audience with, “Je suis Charlie.”
