The Handmaids are ready to raise their voices.
Ahead of Sunday’s 75th annual Golden Globes, the Hollywood Handmaids, derived from Hulu’s original series The Handmaid’s Tale, made their debut standing outside the Beverly Hilton to support the Time’s Up movement and protest gender inequality and sexual harassment.
In a statement posted on their Facebook page, the group explained that they are a mixture of directors, writers, producers, actors, extras and more standing for “equity in gender and race representation, both on and off the screen, and for violence-free working conditions in the film and entertainment industry.”
“We have been silenced, marginalized, belittled, assaulted, excluded, and harassed, once, twice, too many times,” the Handmaids wrote. “We are the ones who have learned that this is not one-off behavior — these are decades-old patterns upheld by systems.”

Ready to stand with their “sisters and brothers wearing black on the red carpet at the Golden Globes,” the Handmaids hope their stance can “demonstrate the emerging and growing resistance against violence in the workplace and society at large.”
“We stand in solidarity with the powerful advocates in Hollywood behind #TimesUp and the many other survivor-led initiatives across the country, working to change laws and cultures to ensure safety and dignity for all people.”
The handmaids also shared images on their Twitter account showcasing each of them standing by a sign that reads “Silent No Longer.” Stars such as Blake Lively, Julianne Moore and Mindy Kaling, who have been outspoken in their support of the Time’s Up movement, were also mentioned in the tweet.
