Lena Dunham talked about the “dark side of the Internet” tonight with E! while on the Golden Globes red carpet. Standing alongside her Girls co-star Andrew Rannells, she revealed she’s left Twitter — sort of.
“I deleted Twitter because I wanted to create a safer space for myself emotionally,” said the actress. “People threaten my life and tell me what a cow I am.”
She said that she does still “check it occasionally” but it’s “not the same co-dependence.” Her account is still active.
Dunham didn’t hold back, saying that she gets a lot of comments from “deranged neocons telling you you should be buried under a pile of rocks.”
The end of the interview focused on her television series. Dunham said she will not reveal whether her boyfriend Jack Antonoff appears on the new series of Girls, but did say, “He did have a pivotal role in creating Marnie’s musical sound.”
