Editor’s Note: This list will be updated with additional parties as details are made available.
As far as Globe night parties go, it’s pretty much the same hosts in the same locales as last year. Other than that, everything’s different – new stars nominated, wild new decor, and maybe even the Beverly Hilton’s catering will attempt something different. Last year, the big news was how much talent the off-site CAA party pulled away from the on-site hotel parties. When it comes to snagging talent, it’s an agent-eat-studio world.
SUNDAY
HBO?
By the downstairs pool
If you’re throwing a Globe party, you can’t go wrong having a nominated movie about Liberace. Think of the decor choices. Behind the Candelabra’s nomination as Best Movie was just one of HBO’s nine noms. The cabler has had the spot downstairs around the pool for so long it’s practically Time Warner real estate. Look for this and the InStyle/Warner Bros. party to go late.

InStyle/Warner Bros.?
Oasis courtyard
Along with HBO’s, this is the party where the most effort goes into the setting. Real design creativity goes into building an octagonal tent courtyard and turning it into a eye-catching venue. In a nod to Warner’s nominee Gravity, look for the space to have a technological, futuristic feel. Music comes from DJ Michelle Pesce and the band Impulse.
AMC?
Stardust Room
If Breaking Bad wins big, then this fifth-floor venue will become the locale that overcomes its location. (It has elevator access only and is oddly shaped.) It’s also hard to do a tasteful theme party where the celebrated show is about meth, but maybe having nominated stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will be enough.

20th Century Fox Film and TV/Fox Searchlight/FX?
Tent in the old Robinsons store parking lot
What would make this party rock is if Fox Searchlight’s 12 Years a Slave were to win the dramatic best picture award. Then, making the hike from the hotel in pumps would really be worth it. Fox Films also has a nomination via DreamWorks Animation with The Croods that would draw a different crowd. And, like the Weinstein party, since this is off the hotel grounds, it has the advantage of outside catering.
NBC/Universal Pictures/Focus Features/E!?
Garage roof
This is the Comcast family affair, with 700 guests at a viewing-plus-afterparty in a tent covering the parking garage roof. The cable conglomerate has eight noms spread around its companies, with the biggest one being for Rush in competition for Best Motion Picture – Drama. And it’s no small matter that it owns NBC, which telecasts the show.
The Weinstein Co.?
Bar 210
This is a party that needs a butler. The Weinstein Co’s box-office hit Lee Daniels’ The Butler got a major snub from the HFPA, with no nominations for the film, director Lee Daniels, or stars Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. But the company has nine noms total, with three for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and two for August: Osage County. The celebrating will be done in two tents set near the old Trader Vic’s space. Although this is connected to the Beverly Hilton, it’s not technically part of the hotel and that allows outside catering.

CAA
The Sunset Tower
This party is way off-site at the Sunset Tower, but last year it was a real magnet for talent. The fact that it’s more exclusive than the on-site affairs is a major draw. It’s not making the HFPA happy that this one starts at 8 p.m. (in past years, it began at 10 p.m.), pulling stars away from the Beverly Hilton afterparties. But star-wrangling is a cutthroat business.
