Richard Linklater‘s 12-year journey is paying off.
The director nabbed the best director award for his film Boyhood at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.

Also nominated in the category were Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Ava DuVernay (Selma), David Fincher (Gone Girl) and Alejandro G. Inarritu (Birdman).
The film stars Ellar Coltrane, Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette and was filmed over a dozen-year span.

It was a big night for the film, which also netted Arquette the best supporting actress trophy.
The ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 11.
