Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais took somewhat of a shot at GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump during the 73rd annual event on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Gervais introduced presenters Eva Longoria and America Ferrera as “two people your future president, Donald Trump, can’t wait to deport.”
Gervais, the somewhat controversial British comedian hosting the awards for the fourth time, did not mention Trump in his opening monologue. He previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the presidential hopeful “put his head in a basket” and would likely be in Gervais‘ crosshairs.
This marks the second major awards show where jokes were made at Trump’s expense; the billionaire businessman also got lit up during the opening minutes of the Emmys in September. “Donald Trump is running for president — to the delight of uncles everywhere,” joked Emmys host Andy Samberg. “Sure, Donald Trump seems racist,” he added, ending his thought there.
