Nearly two months removed from shouting “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist U.S.A” live on, of all places, the American Music Awards on ABC, Green Day is back with a new anti-Trump screed.
The band, which revived its career in 2004 with the anti-Bush album American Idiot, looks like its taking a similar tack for the incoming President-elect.
On Monday, the veteran punk trio debuted a new lyric music video for “Troubled Times,” a track off its September album Revolution Radio. It’s the latest in a long series of protest anthems including, but not limited to, “Know Your Enemy,” “Holiday” and “Minority.”
As for the video, it’s a mix of historical imagery (Martin Luther King Jr. is referenced throughout) and street protest calls-to-action — along with Trump, his golden hair mussed and arms flailing as he ushers in a new political era.
