Greta Van Susteren wasn’t allowed to say goodbye to her viewers after abruptly getting the hook from Rupert Murdoch earlier this week.
She did, however, drop the proverbial microphone in a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, adding her voice to the swelling chorus of lamentations about management practices and professional standards at Fox New Channel.
“I regret that Roger Ailes was not supervised by those in a public corporation who had the duty to supervise him,” she wrote. “This included his seniors, the CFO’s [sic] of both Fox News Channel and 21CF (and its predecessor NewsCorp), the Board of Directors and what I assume this public corporation had, outside auditors. Checks written that were suspicious should have been spotted.”

Added Susteren: “I read Geraldo’s FB post in which he said he regretted not believing Gretchen Carlson’s claim of sexual harassment. We all regret it.”
If Susteren is attempting to burnish her brand, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter she’s bound by a noncompete clause with FNC for the next six months. On Wednesday, she wrote on Facebook that she’d been “benched for awhile [sic].”
Roger Ailes took a multimillion-dollar severance package and left Fox News in July after a swarm of sexual harassment allegations led the Murdoch clan to seek his ouster.
When the allegations first surfaced, Susteren defend the network chief, calling former anchor Gretchen Carlson, who allegedly made tapes of Ailes‘ inappropriate behavior, “a very unhappy employee that lost her job.”
“What she’s alleging is just wildly out of anything anyone has ever experienced with Roger,” Susteren said in an interview with The Wrap on July 8. “It’s unfortunate. [Carlson’s] contract wasn’t renewed, I don’t know why. I don’t have any information on that. But all of a sudden, we’re hearing these incredibly explosive remarks. It’s completely foreign to any of the rest of our experience.”
