One of the biggest head scratchers about this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just how the team will bring one of Marvel’s most outlandish characters to the big screen.
Kurt Russell is playing Ego the Living Planet, who in the the comics is what his name suggests — a sentient, talking planet.
So far, the trailer for Guardians has not revealed footage of Russell, though at San Diego Comic-Con, he appeared in human form in footage shown in Hall H. Now, director James Gunn has revealed another hint at what Ego will look like, sharing a look at the Funko figures for Ego, specifying this is is human look (which also suggests he may take on a planetary form during the film, as well).
As if being a Living Planet weren’t enough, Russell’s Ego is also dad to Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt).
“Peter’s character in this one, he’s got dilemmas and he’s got decisions to make that are not just about whether to save that thing or that person. This is about finding out who you are, where you come from, and where you’re going,” Russell told Collider last year of the film.
