In case this summer’s return to space isn’t enough, audiences will have the chance to join Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket et al for their own death-defying adventures very soon as part of the upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. Judging by the newly released first trailer for the series, however, it might be too dangerous a mission for some.
The new game series, from the same studio responsible for similar Walking Dead and Batman efforts, brings the movie version of the Guardians face-to-face with Thanos, who seems unusually intent on just outright killing the heroes himself, without the use of any minions or stand-in villains.
Vocal talent for the five-episode series includes Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights), Emily O’Brien (The Young and the Restless) and Nolan North (Pretty Little Liars).
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series launches April 18 with the first episode available for download for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC and Mac platforms, as well as being part of a “Season Pass Disc” to be released May 5 to North American retailers. Further episodes of the series will be released in the coming months, according to Telltale Games.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for release in theaters May 5.
