Paul Marciano has reportedly responded to sexual harassment allegations leveled against him by supermodel Kate Upton.
Last week, Upton posted on social media that the 65-year-old “sexually and emotionally” harassed women that he worked with at Guess. The 25-year-old did not specify whether he had assaulted her specifically, however many believed that she alluded to some kind of personal abuse thanks to her inclusion of the “#MeToo” hashtag.
TMZ reports that the Guess co-founder denied that he has harassed women, and also stated that he has “never touched” Upton. Representatives for both Guess and Upton have not returned The Hollywood Reporter‘s request for comment.
“This accusation is false,” reads TMZ’s statement from Marciano. “I have never touched Kate Upton. I have never been alone with Kate Upton. I have never acted inappropriately towards her.”
Marciano also reiterated a previous report that he believed Upton was retaliating against him because Guess allegedly cut ties with the model following a “disastrous” photo shoot.
“She leveled this malicious and false accusation only hours before a gala event at our headquarters in Los Angeles unveiling a new Guess campaign… As of today, Ms. Upton still has provided no facts, no details, no dates and no circumstances to back up anything she has alleged.”
He added that he believes Upton is conspiring against him with other models. “I am told that she has been working with others for some time to defame me and will claim that I groped her, among other things.”
“I fully support the #metoo movement,” he continued. “At the same time, I will not stand by and watch my reputation be tarnished. I have pledged to the Guess Board of Directors that I will fully cooperate with a fair and impartial investigation into all of the facts.”
Following her allegations, Upton told a TMZ photographer that she can’t wait to “tell my full story, but a walk to the car is not going to cover it.”
A 2009 lawsuit filed by fit model Lindsey Ring resurfaced last week in which Ring accused Marciano of sexual misconduct. The lawsuit was dismissed shortly after it was filed.
