A new trailer for the The Guest, directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett, has debuted.
According to Picturehouse, which picked up distribution rights in March, “the movie tells the story of a young soldier who arrives on the doorstep of the Peterson family, claiming to be a good friend of their beloved son who died in action.” Things appear to take a darker turn from there. Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens stars as the soldier, David.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s reviewer at Sundance, Justin Lowe, wrote that “Wingard remains firmly in control behind the camera, allowing the film’s slightly under-lit scenes and POV shots to convey a sense of mounting peril.”
The film is set to hit U.S. theaters Sept. 17, two days prior to Fox’s The Maze Runner, Kevin Smith‘s horror flick Tusk and Liam Neeson’s A Walk Among the Tombstones, which also stars Stevens.
