Could Kristin Cavallari and her baby bump be any cuter? We don’t think so. Pret-a-Reporter caught up with the expecting mom of three in West Hollywood on Wednesday to get the inside scoop on her latest shoe offering from her collaboration with Chinese Laundry.
The Laguna Beach alumna is especially hands-on with her shoe line, and indeed the wearable styles and on-trend silhouettes and materials have given her line a longevity that is unusual in the world of celebrity-endorsed collections.

While celebrating her new collection, we chatted with the style star, who also has a new book in the works (Balancing in Heels; $25, available next March) about the best footwear trends and her all-time favorite shoe (Louboutins, duh).
Pret-a-Reporter: What are your all-time favorite pair of shoes and why?
Kristin Cavallari: My all-time favorite pair of shoes are my very first pair of Christian Louboutins I ever bought. They are black satin, peep-toe sling-back pumps. It was a very big deal for me at the time. I was 18 years old and they felt like a sense of accomplishment. I worked really hard for them and it was a big moment. I am such a shoe girl and Christian Louboutins are the it shoe. They were the only pair I wore for the first couple of years. They have seen more red carpets than I can count!
Has your favorite pair of shoes changed over the years?
I used to think the higher the heel the better, but now that I have kids, I find myself leaning towards lower heels and flats. They are just more convenient for my lifestyle — with two active boys I’m always running around. One of my favorite shoes is the Laurel bootie (above) from my line with Chinese Laundry. It is so versatile and a style that I will have forever. I love them in all colors, especially tan.
Talk to us about fringe and shoes. Is this a yay or a nay right now?
Definite “yay“! Shoes are a great way to incorporate trends without going over the top. Some classic pieces paired with fun fringe boots are the perfect way to dabble in the trend versus going over the top in a full fringe jacket or skirt!

Favorite go-to pair of shoes for running around during the day?
Right now I am living in my Chandy suede flats from my collection. They are trendy and fashionable but flat and super comfortable. Perfect for dressing up jeans and running errands.
Favorite pair of red-carpet shoes?
My classic pair of Christian Louboutin black pumps. I wore them when I hosted the “Countdown to the Oscars” special with E! News. Balmain dressed me for the Elton John afterparty that night for the first time and I was pregnant with my second son. I felt like I was on top of the world.
It’s fall. Talk to us about your favorite boot silhouettes from your collection.
Right now I am loving two styles from my Kristin Cavallari Chinese Laundry collection. The Calissa over the knee slouch boot — I wear the ginger shade a lot, especially to Bears games and to lunch with girlfriends. And the Candyce suede wedge bootie that I am wearing with everything. It is a wedge so it’s definitely more comfortable. I can dress up and dress down this style as well. I wear them when I travel a lot and my feet don’t hate me afterwards.
What pair of shoes are you wearing right now?
I am wearing my Candyce suede wedge bootie in ginger with this beautiful Torn by Ronny Kobo dress. I love the pattern!
