Herman Cain faced off with Newt Gingrich on Saturday, Nov. 5 during a GOP debate, in which he slammed the media for focusing on decade-old sexual harassment allegations against him.

Tea Party organizers limited the discussion to Social Security, Medicare and Medicade, but regarding the biggest surprise faced during the campaign thus far, Cain quipped, “the nit-pickiness of the media.”
“It is the actions and behaviors of the media that have been the biggest surprise. There are too many people in the media who are downright dishonest,” he continued, according to the AP. “They do a disservice to America.”

When asked whether he was done answer questions regarding the scandal, Cain was quick to respond, “You got it.” His comments regarding unethical reporters brought a cheering crowd to its feet.
“If I were running this campaign the way the pundits thought I ought to be running this campaign, I would have dropped out in August,” he later told reporters. “When people get on the Cain train, they don’t get off.”

At least three women have come forward since Cain announced his candidacy for the presidency, all claiming to be victims of sexual harassment. Cain has denied all allegations, which stem from reported incidents in the 1990s. According to his campaign, the Republican presidential contender is “looking to put this issue behind us.”
